Southern Middle Library
Vision Statement
The Southern Middle library program strives to be the essential element in student success. Patrons will find a safe, non-judgmental place where they have access to the most up-to-date information and ideas, to the newest literature, and to technology and other tools that will allow them to explore, research, and create. An appreciation for literature and the drive to become lifelong learners will be fostered through media instruction that will empower students to become ethical, information-literate patrons who are able to independently access, evaluate, and use information resources to meet individual needs.
Mrs. Duggan's Philosophy
All people have the right to access and use the library and its resources for educational and personal use, with the hope that they will become lifelong learners and contributing members of society. The school library should work to provide as many resources and services as possible to all patrons, giving equal opportunities for learning and intellectual and social growth.
Mission Statement
The Southern Middle Library empowers students and staff to become information-literate readers who are able to effectively access, evaluate, and use information and new technologies to satisfy individual information needs and creative aspirations as well as to become competitive members in an information-rich world.
